Advertising TRT on Google Ads: 2026 certification & restricted-term rules
Certification & authorization
Online prescribing/dispensing requires LegitScript + Google Prescription drug services certification (industry consensus - Google has no clause literally naming “TRT”; verify). Naming testosterone/hormone drugs triggers Restricted drug terms; keyword-targeting them needs certification.
What’s prohibited
- Sexual-enhancement or performance claims tied to hormones
- Equivalence claims for OTC “test boosters”
- Prohormones / anabolics (on the unapproved-substances list)
- Unproven disease-treatment claims
- Personalized-ad targeting (“your low T”, “your symptoms”)
Disclaimers & landing-page requirements
Top reasons ads get rejected
- Naming testosterone/hormone drugs without certification
- Online prescribing without LegitScript + Google certification
- Sexual-enhancement or muscle-building claims
- OTC “test boosters” implying Rx equivalence
- Personalized-health targeting
What enforcement actually looks like
The word “testosterone” in a headline or keyword is the trigger: without certification it draws a restricted-drug-terms disapproval, and because Search accounts typically run many RSA variants, one policy hit tends to arrive as a batch of disapprovals at once. The escalation to avoid is the workaround reflex - misspellings, spaced-out letters, or the drug name rendered in image text are read as circumventing systems, a violation class where Google suspends the account rather than the ad, and reinstatement is rare.
