Creative Testing
What is Creative Testing?
Creative testing is the structured process of launching many ad variants, measuring them against clean benchmarks, and scaling only the winners, and in health it is a volume discipline rather than a hunt for one perfect ad.
The volume math and a worked example
Across AdBoost Health partner accounts, roughly 1 in 8 health creatives becomes a durable winner, which is why testing is run as a pipeline. Work it with round, illustrative numbers. A GLP-1 account shipping 20 variants in a month can expect about two or three genuine winners to carry the next spend cycle, and holding a benchmark CAC typically requires 30–60 fresh creatives a month once fatigue is accounted for. The arithmetic is unforgiving: test too little and you run out of winners before the current ones fatigue, and CAC drifts up while you scramble to refill the pipeline.
Judge tests on leading indicators first
Conversions accumulate slowly, so waiting for CAC to rank a new variant wastes budget. Read the fast signals first, then confirm with cost.
| Signal | Bar | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Hook rate | Above 25–30% | The opening earns its impressions |
| Outbound CTR | Above ~1.2% cold | The creative turns reach into clicks |
| CPM trend | Stable or falling | The platform is rewarding relevance |
| CAC | At or below your vertical band | The final verdict, once volume arrives |
Kill the low-hook variants early and concentrate spend and iteration on the scroll-stoppers, because fatigue shows in CPM and hook rate before ROAS ever moves.
In health, the angle library matters as much as the volume
Volume is only sustainable if the angles are compliant. Claims-safe angles (mechanism, routine, provider credibility) can be iterated indefinitely, while a borderline claim is one rejection away from flagging the whole account. In supplements especially, an angle library built on structure/function claims (supporting normal body function rather than treating disease) is what keeps testing volume flowing, because every replacement ad must clear claims review before it can run.
Why it matters for health and DTC brands
Because only about 1 in 8 creatives wins and every winner eventually succumbs to creative fatigue, a healthy health account is always testing the next cohort while the current winners still deliver. Treat creative testing as the engine that keeps CAC stable, not a one-off experiment, and keep the pipeline ahead of the decay so a rotation fixes fatigue cheaply. Build the angle library on compliant, claims-safe messaging, ship 15–25 variants a month, and judge them on hook rate and CTR first and CAC once volume lands.
